Your Guide to Plant Care
We strive to provide you with plants that are not only at an affordable rate but also can grow with vigor once you receive them. The Bare Root Perennials reach your home only after going through a series of careful preparation and inspection to increase vigorous growth and to reduce transplant shock. Excess soil is first removed from the roots followed by an inspection to check for vitality and growth vigor. Then the plant is given a trim and removal of any damaged or long roots. The plants roots are then given a warm water bath for minimum of 30 minutes and maximum of 2 hours on the length of the journey it is about to embark. Your plants are then kept under dark in unheated area to maintain a cool temperature. Roots are then Wrapped in damp paper towels or newspaper or shredded paper (or combination of all three) to retain moisture.
OPTIONAL-if customer requests leaves, then the leaves will be rolled up with the roots in news-paper so all the leaves are smoothed toward the top.
Wrapped bare root perennials are then put in a plastic bag to prevent drying out by twist tie around the neck of the root-ball with a rubber band to keep the dampness in. The USPS box you receive will be filled with shredded paper around the wrapped bare root plant to minimize disturbances or damage through its journey to the new home
